As far as a fast arm, I know Chapman factory sets their arms at around 6 seconds for a boom travel. You can have them tweak the arm for a faster one though. I've asked them to goose it a little before to give me a little more speed. For a fast arm while pushed really fast I would get a Hybrid (lighter than a Hustler), ask Chapman to make the arm a couple seconds faster and haul ass. Some of the other readers may have different ideas that I HOPE THEY'LL SHARE.Dhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08466991423411721535noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-18888640.post-1250196776515959972008-02-16T00:20:00.000-08:002008-02-16T00:20:00.000-08:00Thanks for the kind words!Interesting stuff, I rea...Thanks for the kind words!

Interesting stuff, I really enjoy your blog!

High-speed stuff is always fun. The trouble with motion control is a lot of the stuff never moves fast enough, plus cuing the moco rig with the actual event can be another challenge, no substitute for a strong, talented dolly grip that can think and respond to the action in front of him.

Worked on a Dell commercial with a bunch of computers blowing up. We flew two high-speed cameras on a 50' Techno and just extended out through all the explosions at 1000fps as fast as the arm could go.

What dolly has the fastest boom arm while also being well suited to getting pushed really fast for very high-speed tracking shots?

Kevin Zanit
www.studiobattlerattle.com
www.kevinzanit.comAnonymousnoreply@blogger.com
